Updates to your newly purchased San Diego Foreclosure

Now that you have celebrated the purchase of your San Diego foreclosure or REO, you now want to make some changes or needed repairs. Here are some ideas for fixing up your San Diego home. Remember
that updating and improving the interior of your new home doesn't have
to be an all or nothing plan. You can start with a small project and
then work your way up to a larger one.
Here are some great projects to
get started with:
Update Your Bathroom
- Coordinate new bathroom hardware with your
current fixtures.
- Consider adding new vanity lighting for a bright,
fresh look.
- The time and expense involved to update your bathroom
hardware is minimal compared to the visual impact you get in return.
Paint a Room for a Fresh, New Look
- A new coat of paint will make a
world of difference in the look and feel of your home.
- By carefully
preparing your room for painting, you will be able to achieve a
professional-looking finish that will make you step back and say,
"Wow!"
- Go Faux. A faux finish can add a little "something extra" to any
room. The faux finish center at Lowe's offers how-to information and
tips on many different types of finishes to complement your room's
décor.
Add Decorative Ceiling Fans
- All ceiling fans
are functional, but when you go the extra step to add a decorative fan
to a room, you can achieve a really custom look. Ceiling fans are
particularly useful in the summer, since they effectively reduce energy
usage while creating a cool breeze. They can also be used in the winter
to gently pull heated air away from the ceiling where it tends to
collect.
Install Ceramic Tile
- Ceramic tile may be just the look you want for
your bathroom, kitchen, or foyer.
- Installation is not particularly
difficult, but it does require preparation and some patience.
- Check
your local Lowe's store for workshops and how-to information about
installing tile.
- With the different sizes and tile finishes available,
the final look of a new tiled floor or wall will make a dramatic
difference.
Improve Storage with Wire Shelving
- Installing adjustable wire shelving in your garage, workshop, or closet can not only increase your storage space
but can help you keep these areas more tidy and organized.
- Once the
adjustable wire shelving is installed, you can easily change the
configuration in the future, if needed.
Divide a Large Room
- If you have an oversized room - like a
basement or bonus room, that can be divided with a non-load bearing
wall, consider this home improvement.
- While this is a fairly extensive
project, you'll create two rooms that can be used for different
functions and can even improve your home's value when it comes time to
resell.
Install Moulding
- Adding moulding to various rooms in your home can
provide a regal touch.
- Mouldings hide slight imperfections where
corners meet, join materials of varying thickness, and give a room a
finished look.
- Mouldings also help make a transition from different
materials such as paint and wallpaper.
Improve Energy Efficiency
- There are simple and inexpensive steps that you can take to make your home more energy efficient.
- These solutions often bring big returns. From wrapping hot water pipes
to replacing furnace filters, these suggestions will benefit the
environment as well as your wallet.
Install New Kitchen Cabinets
- If you've been thinking of updating
your kitchen cabinets, why not do it this weekend?
- It's easier - and
less expensive - than you might think.
- With a little elbow grease and
creativity, you can give your kitchen cabinets a face lift and create
the effect of an entire kitchen remodel.
